Police force amalgamation will result in job losses

As Hertfordshire's police and crime commissioner, David Lloyd, has revealed a merger between three neighbouring county's forces will result in redundancies.

The plan was born out of reductions in Hertfordshire's policing budget, and although a reduction in numbers, Commissioner Lloyd has suggested that this is not to alter the efficacy of front-line policing in the area. In addition, he stated that “future of policing should not be reduced to a sterile debate over officer numbers”.
